I bought my first orange item the other day, a buttoned up dress from Cotton On, and I´ve been asking myself why I never had this colour in my wardrobe, ever since. I was in the aisle, looking through the items on rack and this tangerine colour caught my eye. I was leaning more towards my standard pastel colour range or over-bought baby blue or beige ensemble, but I thought ¨why not try something new.¨ I must admit, when I got to the changing room and saw how orange can really pop a tan skintone, I was like ¨why have I never bought this colour before?¨. Well, I´m proud to announce that as a person who was never much a fan of the colour orange, I am now a total convert! Here´s why:
Why orange is the new black:
1. Orange goes so well with so many skin tones!
Nothing pops your skin like a colour that brings out its natural hue. If you´ve olive to a deeper tanned shade of skin, you´ll defs look good in orange. This is because orange tends to accentuate your skins natural warm undertones. If you´ve got more pinkish undertones though, steer clear of oranges that tend more towards red, as these will make you look washed out. Rather opt for a peachier orange to bring out the pinkish undertone of your skin well.

2. Its gorgeous for Autumn/ Fall:
Yes i know this is kinda cliche but orange is truly a gorgeous Fall colour! Not only does it bring warmth to your look, but truly pops an ensemble in the best way. Whilst everyone tends towards dull colours like blacks and greys in colder weather, why not stand out and opt for an orange or warm toned colour instead.
3. It´s youthful
I legit googled ¨orange colour connotations¨ and got this from my search: orange is the colour of excitement, youthfulness, creativity, adventure and exudes happiness. So, I guess if you´re not feeling any of these things, at least the colour you´re wearing will convey them and who´ll be any the wiser?!
4. Orange pairs well:
Pop it with beige, brown, black or if you dare even blue!

The orange look I went for in this outfit was Fall inspired #standard. I paired this tangerine buttoned dress from Cotton On with a plain beige wedge heel and some gold hoops. I wore my hair in simple loose waves and for a final touch layered over with the cream teddy jacket you can see lying on the bed in the first and last picture.
