5 Immune boosting foods🍋💪

Glowing from the inside out is the kind of radiance we all want (and deserve). Feeling good is more than just completing your skincare routine, its about feeling good from the inside out, strong and healthy and ready to tackle everything life throws at you! Here are a few simple foods, that you probably have in your kitchen right now, that are sure to give your immune system the kickstart it needs.

ZESTY ZESTY CITRUS🍋

Citrus fruits are a great source of vitamin C, a MUST HAVE for a healthy immune system. Vitamin C is not naturally produced by the body, which means its important that you consume it as part of your diet. The recommended daily intake for adults is 65-90mg.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can strengthen your body’s natural defenses. Antioxidants are molecules that boost the immune system. They do so by protecting cells from harmful molecules called free radicals.

GINGER

Ginger is an age old remedy for colds, flus as well as for settling nausea and an upset stomach. The main component in ginger, responsible for its medicinal properties, is a compound called gingerol. Gingerol has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help boost the body's immune system.

YOGHURT

Greek and plain yoghurts that have live/active cultures in them, aka probiotics, help to keep your gut microbiome healthy and balanced.

Each of us has a mircobiome in our gut made up of millions of microorganisms, that aid digestion, as well as help build a strong immune system response when fighting infection.

OATS

The good old oatmeal may seem like the most underrated food on this list, but it packs quite a punch when it comes to immune boosting benefits.

Oats are a natural source of beta glucan, which helps the immune system when fighting infection.

Oats also contain selenium and zinc, two important nutrients for warding off infection and helping you stay in fighting shape.

NUTS & SEEDS

Nuts and seeds are not only a delicious snack or a perfect topping on that immune boosting yoghurt and oats, but are also great for your body too! Nuts and seeds are naturally high in Omega-6, vitamin E, zinc and magnesium, all great for your immune system!
